Learning Consultant

At Saint Joseph School, we have a Learning Consultant who works with students in grades pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. The Learning Consultant collaborates with classroom teachers regularly to determine appropriate strategies that will ensure student success, whether the strategies are for remedial support, maintaining grade-level progress, or enriching student skills. Available are in-class support, small group, and one-on-one opportunities, as well as before- and after-school assistance throughout the week. There is open communication between the Learning Consultant, teachers, parents, and students to develop appropriate learning plans for students when needed. We all work together, helping all students grow academically, behaviorally, socially, and emotionally.

The Learning Consultant also works with families and teachers to identify any student who might need a professional assessment outside of Saint Joseph School. This could be, but not limited to, academic support, gifted testing, and focus/task concerns. Please send any and all forms from your doctor’s office, or other professional office, to the Learning Consultant. The Learning Consultant will make sure that there is a release of information on record and make sure any forms are given/filled out by the correct teachers. The Learning Consultant is your main point of contact for these procedures.

The Learning Consultant also organizes and communicates any information regarding the IOWA and CogAt testing, which takes place in the fall each year.

Saint Joseph School has Title 1 services through the Windsor School District. Title 1 Reading and Math tutoring is offered to eligible students in Kindergarten-Grade 5 who reside in the Windsor C-1 School District. This program offers academic support to students during the school day, in addition to classroom instruction. A Saint Joseph School teacher works with the classroom teachers to provide extra Reading and/or Math help, and assists students in developing specific skills. Teacher referral and parent permission are required.
